How much clearance for aftermarket switches in OEM location?

That's a lot of switches 😲 Where did the HVAC vents go?

and they all belong to something and have their own independent circuit with independent relays and fuses in the engine bay :)

I don't have AC so I really don't need those weak ass vents, plus they would only heat the back of the iPad so I removed the upper vent tubing and capped it off behind the bezel. now my side and foot vents pump serious heat!

I was running the pod above the windshield but it gets in the way of my Rosen visors so I had to come up with something else. made a cool pod for above the speedo but ended up scratching that and going this way. wanted to keep a cleaner look and it's worked out beautifully

I got a set of Rosen visors a few months ago as well .. they are really nice. Will be a while before they are installed though.

it ain't that complicated :ROFLMAO:

lights, lockers, seat heaters and a few safety switches. had to dial down the intensity of the led lights but it looks bitchin all lit up. I could have just used one of those auxbeam things but I don't like that format at all. plus, carling switches sound so nice when they're flipped too lol. added bonus that all this wiring shit helps with my anxiety. everything is colour coded with a corresponding legend so that when my son takes over the rig he'll know what's going on back there instead of leaving him a fucking rats nest of coiled up wires.

I worked with Rosen on something different than their current offering, finishing up install this weekend hopefully and will try to remember to share pics.

If you are resourceful .. you can fit 6 switches in an OEM 97-02 panel.

Not my Jeep but saw this on Facebook. The guy did some very careful sanding to make this happen. This is even nicer than the dual 97-02 pods side by side that @SSTJ posted above.

Also thought this below 3D printed version was quite clean, but I liked the above one better. Perhaps @Mike_H can do better :)

Any idea on how the top one was created or the bottom?

Thanks! I am still racking my brain as to how they worked out that lower row. It normally house the 12v light jacks.

It looks like they cut two switch pods and then grafted it into one. It is very cleanly done, which is why I saved the photo and the post. I liked that one a WHOLE lot. If you look carefully you can see the seam in the center.

I have the dual 97-02 switch pods in my 2005 (below photo is my Jeep (you can see the slightly imperfect trimming that is visible only with a flash).

Please do share (even if by PM). Rosen is ~2h South of me in Oregon and I was very pleased when I discovered them. I called and talked to them when I ordered and they are very good people. I also learned that they supply Jonathan Ward for Icon's (very high dollar) LC restomods.

here's a measurement of the area behind that panel you're looking at:
OK, for what it's worth, the designer has revised the panel to add clearance. There is apparently about 2.25" from the plane making up the rear side of the face of the switch panel to the mounting surface. Now... I don't know what that does to clearance in front of the switches, but it means the switches I want to use should fit.

It was always my intention to bend the 6-spd lever back a bit to accommodate switches there anyway. I'll keep posting here with any progress.

Like others have shown, the 3DFab panels are a good fit. Good room behind for wiring, as long as you don’t have a BL/MML or modified shifter the front clearance should be good, too. In 1st, 3rd, 5th gears, I can extend a finger and hit most of the buttons, but I cannot force the shifter to turn anything on by accident. I haven't hit any toggles by accident yet, but I have left the heat seater on overnight since everything is wired hot! Gotta' remember that one ...
