I know this is a long shot. We had a fatal pedestrian hit and run in our neighborhood just before Christmas. These photos are the only vehicle evidence collected at the scene. If anyone can possibly shed any light on what type of vehicle they are from, I will pass along to our local police. Thanks.

something about the lip on the clear fragments struck a chord with me...im going to go out to my junkyard in the back to see. It looks like the headlight cover of a 2000-2004 Honda Civic. but that is a bit of a guess until i check one of the wrecks out back . My sincere condolences to the family and friend of the victim

I don’t know how to do it, but can the orange lens/reflector be identified by using that google lens feature?

I spoke to the detectives....the Dodge Avenger is at the top of their list. Hopefully, only a matter of time. Thanks for the replies.

I would say the detectives are spot-on.
The clear shrapnel appears to be headlight cover plastic, and the yellow 'marker light' appears to be the in-headlight reflector.

Photo of Dodge Avenger light for reference.

From that pic alone, I'm almost positive it's an Avenger headlight. The reflector is the same shape. The diagonal lines at the top edge of the lens are there. That's crazy that people online recognized that from fragments.

I feel like I could recognize a TJ light but the thought of going through car photos one by one, including new and anything made within at least 20 years looking for a match is mentally intimidating.

I'm now obsessed with looking for Avengers as I drive our local streets. It's out there.

Just saw this in our local Facebook Marketplace. Is it just the angle, or does the driver's headlight look much newer than the hazy passenger side? The listing date would be shortly after the hit and run date. And the front license plate is gone.

I'd say that is an older picture. Looks like too much greenery in the background for this time of year in Virginia.

Maybe. Not to discourage you, but there are many scenarios that could have played out in the last 30+ days. Most likely the vehicle that was damaged has been fixed by now. The vehicle might have been passing though and isn't even in or from the area. Hell, I just saw something about a hit-and-run vehicle in PA being discovered after being walled-up in a garage for the last 20 years. I think looking at people's doorbell/ security cameras on the day of the incident will be the most fruitful. If you're putting in effort, that's where I'd lean into things. Check with people living up and down the street and on connecting roads. There's a chance someone caught a vehicle like the suspected one. Maybe someone can get a color and/or tag.

Not discouraged at all. We have a great police department and we're in the FBI's backyard. They'll find him/her.
