I have a Smittybilt XRC-8 winch on my Jeep. I'd love to rig up a wireless remote for it. I see them available on Amazon. Has anyone used one? Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Gary

If you get one. let us know how it works. I too would like a wireless remote for the winch on mine. Its a travelers or something like that, not a badlands or warn but works well enough to not discard it yet. (it was on the jeep when i bought it)

I will say this...my Warn came with a wireless transmitter....I think it died from under the hood heat or just being left plugged in. I've contacted Warn twice and it's covered under warranty but they've been having supply chain issues and don't have any.

The harbor freight one we bought for my wife's JK and Badlands 9k lasted a couple of snow wheeling trips and turned into an aquarium and died.

So...under the hood, too hot I think and dead.

Out on the winch with the contactor in the usual spot... receiver tucked under the winch... aquarium.

Learn from my mistakes.

Just be aware that some wireless remotes introduce an unacceptable delay/lag between when you push or release the button and when the winch responds. The one I installed had that problem and I tossed it after a couple uses its first day on the trail.

Hadn’t thought of a lag. Thanks for the heads up.
