What is the deal with Metalcloak?

I know it's an old thread but I came across something and this thread seemed like the right place to put it, rather than starting a new one for something so silly.

I wanted a 1" lower bump stop extension. This came up in a google search.

Far as I can tell, Metalcloak is asking for $54 for some basic fasteners and actual hockey pucks, or should I say "One Inch thermoset elastomer pads", that anybody could piece together for under $20.

Then if you go to the 4" version, they give you a longer bolt and $8 more worth of pucks and up the price by another $45.

I just had to laugh, as I went to Amazon and bought 2...actual hockey pucks.

My bumpstops are excatly that...except they were free from the Rink and "pre-chunked" used ones.

We're not a big hockey market so I had to order mine. They aren't my only bump stop system, I just need to add an inch to use the BlackMax shocks I bought and restore my travel to 50/50 after the Rockjock springs raised my ride height.

I guess to be fair, I have to give MC credit for reminding me that hockey pucks exist and work great as TJ bump stops. 😎

Its very hard to believe they charge 54 dollars for the "kit."

$99 for the 4" kit.

This comment is interesting. Maybe they knock the edge off with a belt sander after they drill the hole so it's not an "actual" puck anymore. 🤣

Even if they are no longer exactly hockey pucks, a hole and a chamfer do not justify a 400% margin.

I think I paid $10 bucks for all my hockey pucks, bolts and I already had the countersink bit. I should go into business.

I have several of them as they came with my lift. They aren’t hockey pucks but they aren’t much different either. They do nest together, the sides aren’t flat.

It’s a nice set but I’d agree they are priced too high and wouldn’t pay that either.
