I went out to start my jeep this morning and heard a knock. When I parked it last night it was running normal. I haven’t lose oil pressure and oil is full. Coolant temps are also normal. Can anyone help? Or am I completely at a loss with this engine
Although I collect info about the 2.5s, I don't actually have experience working on them. So, others will know better than I do.
For what it's worth, my first reaction to your second video was that your exhaust manifold could be loose or cracked. Have you checked it? It's common on the 2.5s. Let me know if you want more links/posts about that.
And when you say you heard a knock, was it a one-time thing, and then this fluttering sound started?
Probably piston slap..every 2.5 engine I have owned has been noisy. Keep the oil full and changed and find something else to worry about
I replaced my exhaust manifold gasket 2 months ago.
No it sounds like a knock/slapping at idle then flutters when i drive. which leads me to believe its the timing chain but i'm not positive.
Did you re-torque the manifold since replacing because they will loosen.
I had timing chain issues on two 2.5's so that is a possibility and they both sounded like a diesel. Pick up a mechanics stethoscope and listen around. Did you re-torque the manifold since replacing because they will loosen.

Is there an easy way to check the timing chain without a stethoscope?
Yep, what Tony Arms suggested.
I’m 85% sure it’s the timing chain after listening to it with a stethoscope
