Seeing more and more of this on the road. Delete the fenders on your JK or JL and put cover plates over the mounting holes. Don't know why it's street legal but it must be.

Not legal in all states, but I could not find a AZ rule about requiring fenders.

Might be illegal, but unenforced unless they stop you for something else.

Might be by city instead of by state laws.

Denver requires fenders, but you can usually get by with worthless "token" fenders. Depends on the cop. But surrounding suburbs have a mix of fender/no-fender laws.

Personally, I think no-fenders looks stupid. (n)

They used to enforce stuff like that but not any more. I remember getting ticketed for noise but that doesn't happen now, it's rare they even show up at crashes here anymore.

Whenever I see the tires sticking outside the fenders like that I hang way back, same with a TT with a missing mud flap.

So you other Arizonites are seeing the Jeep roller skate look where you are too?

My son got cited for no mudflaps on a lifted squarebody one time that the tires only stuck out at most 2". It was okay where we lived but not in Phoenix the day he went there. That was a while ago.

Seems like the rule only applies to trucks, defined as having a bed or box behind the cab, and applies if lifted or if the GVW is above 10,000#.

Well that explains son's ticket. Doesn't explain why Jeeps, rat rods, 32 Fords etc. get a pass. Home state of Pa requires all tread to be inside fender on everything and it's still enforced.

10 yrs back I got stopped outside of Kingman for a burnt out license bulb. I was on the interstate doing 70 at 2am, he was facing towards me in the median. How he saw my light out I do not know. I guess at 2am I was a sitting duck.

I remember when Phoenix went postal on pickups needing mudflaps years ago. It has been a long time though. I do notice when a pickup has then now because it is so rare to see them.
