I have an 03 TJ with a 4inch lift, RE adjustable control arms and SYE. I have some mild vibration past 65mph. I took it in to a different 4x4 shop and they are telling me I need 1 1/2 t-case drop to eliminate the vibration completely. I thought with the SYE and adj control arms you would not need the drop?

The whole point of the sye and adj control arms is to NOT use a tc drop.

Have you measured angles yet?

And make sure your tires are properly balanced, especially if you changed something recently (new tires, tire rotation). Lots have mistaken unbalanced tires for a driveline problem.

The SYE with adjustable rear CA’s properly adjusted so your pinion and DC driveshaft are at the same angle should eliminate vibes.

If that is all correct something else is going on. Could be a bad ujoint. Could be oscillating harmonic vibes. That’s a problem that has been discussed ad nauseum. Have you removed your rear driveshaft to see if you still have vibes? If there’s no change then remove the front driveshaft at the pinion and strap it to the frame and see if that removes the vibes.

No, you should never need a TCase drop with an SYE. That is stupid.

Also, tire balance vibes are very different than driveline vibes. They would be coming in sooner too, around 40-47mph, not 65mph.

So I won’t repeat the details, but if your shop told you, with a SYE and DC Driveshaft and Adjustable Arms you need a TC Drop, don’t EVER take your Jeep there.

That’s a very ignorant statement by them based on the details you gave, and I don’t like people Ignorant on How to build Jeeps, working on my Jeep.

Just saying.
