Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I'm trying to make a decision about buying a done Currie 60 rear or looking at other options. JKs keep surfacing, so I guess I'll need to get smarter on them.

I see JK-width Currie 60 rears dirt cheap, every now and then. The semi-float housings with the rotated diff.

It's the wider front end that really gets you.

Every now and then I see pretty damn good deals on JL and JT axles. The JT Rubicon and Mojave have the same axles front and rear. The Mojave has the heavy duty outer knuckles instead of the aluminum ones that come on the Rubicon. They're running like 67" wms to wms....

Hate to be “that guy”, but it’s 68” WMS.

Also no front locker on Mojave axles.

Hmmm
Ok so the standard JTs and the Sport "non" Max tow, are 67.

And yes I know the Mojave doesn't have a front locker but.... You can bolt the Mojave knuckles right onto the Rubicon axles...

According to this little gem I found the wide track axles on the RUbicon, Mohave, and Max Tow versions are 1.5" wider than standard... so 68.5"??

So I believe the standard is 66.5”. Rubi/Mojave/Max Tow/High Altitude would then be 68”. I could be wrong.

Yessir, outers are the same amongst all JT/JL axles. Tho personally I would go Reid knuckles for the beefiness + ability to flip the drag link.

The front locker matters when pricing used axles, figure a grand less for Mojave compared to Rubi axles?

I haven't seen enough Rubi or Mojave sets for sale to see an honest comparison of prices..

I’ve never seen them dirt cheap. I’ve seen them not terrible but they’re always narrowed to something stupid.

what's the latest?
I am not on here as much any more as I took a promotion which also came with day shift

I injured my shoulder last week and the doctor told me to take a week off to let it rest and hopefully heal. It's feeling a lot better now and I think I'll be back out in the garage in the next few days.

Congrats on the promotion.

Thank you and I hope the healing continues for you! I know the mud needs to be slung out there

I'm sure I could have been out there working but I just don't heal as fast as I used to and I didn't want to risk injuring it more. Used to be I would have just powered through the pain and kept on going.

I really want to get this thing put back together and get it out on the trail.

Been trying to follow the doctors directions and not using my arm/shoulder as little as possible.

I know I'm 2 days late but I was looking at old pictures and found this of my company in Kuwait. I turned 43 in 2004 so 20 years ago.

Went to the VA on Wednesday and I get to go back to my pin lock style sockets. The sore on my leg is healed up and the doctors want to see if I have any more issues wearing a pin lock now.

I'm guessing you're the real big guy in the center?
