The transmission fill plug on my 1997 tj will not unscrew. I've used heat and that didn't work either. I'm thinking that somebody may have used epoxy on it. The corners are pretty much rounded off now . And there is not a lot of room to work with the slave cylinder in the way and also because of the.
Front drive Shaft. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Oof, I’m not sure if it’s possible, others may know better, but if those mentioned options don’t work, I would weld a large nut onto it. That’s a total brainstorm,
I would think that would work functionally, but I’ve never done it on a transmission, with fluid etc

Now you know why you always remove the fill plug first. But you're in luck. Remove the shifter from inside and put the amount of fluid specified by jeep into the hole and button it back up. You'll be good for years that way.

That's what I did last time. I've used that method in my 2 previous jeeps., however, I would rather see the excess coming out of the fill hole to know that I have the proper amount.

As mentioned previously weld a nut onto it. Hopefully the heat from the welder will un-seize the threads.

The same thing happened to me on my transfer case.

Can you drill a hole in the center to get an "easy out" in there? I'm assuming you've "soaked" it with BP plaster, or the like? I'm with some of the others, best bet may be to weld a nut on, heat it and get after it.
