Best places to retire?

He stabbed more than one. The one was essentially disemboweled in the river.

The kids were calling him a pedophile and pushing him down and beating on him prior.

It's still an uphill battle for him but the kids are doing a a very bad job of changing their stories in their testimony.

Ive seen the black kids testimony basically lying about him taking pics of girls and then admitting to lying on the stand

This is the kids phone video, and it should vindicate him. They were playing games all laughing and razzing him incessantly, THEN physically assaulted him in a mob action…..then got stabbed as he slashed around half conscious after being clocked and knocked down

https://worldstarhiphop.com/videos/...oked-for-his-phone-in-the-river-leaves-1-dead

The mere fact hes even been charged in an act of self defense is ludicrous. Kid FAFO that hit him and died for being stupid. Female took a slash because she was in the mix of the mob attacking

They were either on drugs or alcohol too
Its pretty obvious by their level of obnoxious behavior
The kids should be charged with murder because THEIR behavior led to the defensive stabbing

I don't want to derail this thread. This is more fitting for the news thread.

Moving to new state is not easy. I moved 45 yrs ago from Wi to Ca. It took a few years to get the lay of the land and figure out what area was best for me. I was young and flexible. Now I’m old and set in my ways. It’s hard to leave the familiar and move to an unfamiliar place.
As for you dissing California you need to know that there are 40 million people here. The state runs 1000 miles long by hundreds of miles wide. My county alone is the size of West Virginia. We run the whole gamut of people, from city folks to farmers and desert rats. The problem with this state is the population is dominated by large cities. Just like Illinois with Chicago, Georgia with Atlanta and New York with New York City. People in South Georgia don’t think the same as Atlantans. We are out numbered by Assholes.

Thailand - super cheap, love Americans
(Many US mercenaries and State Dept employees)

For the winter time. Moved our primary residence out of Ca for Az
Parents retired to oregon 30 years ago. Son took a job in Az and has a growing family. Year two into it works for us. Being with family was the deciding factor. Eff Oregon winters and Arizona summers though.

“Ladyboys” are a thing in Bangkok there, just like here
The weird British sure seem to like them per my buddy who is a US State Dept contractor there

The legit Thai women are waaaaay more natural and Conservative and old school values. One of my old rocket riding buddies married one and brought her here

I met a few in the bar districts of Hong Kong too.

I think it was Gutfield's show someone was saying Tranny's want people to pretend they are women, or guys. Ladyboys will tell you they are guys.

They aren't trying to compete against women in sports etc.

Retirement is tricky. I've known people who knew exactly where and how they wanted to live after their work life was done.

I retired 24 years ago but only moved to Florida 16 months ago.

I met a couple that sold their house in South Carolina and moved into the gated community that I live in. They lasted 7 months, they sold the house here moved back to the same town they came from.

The mistake they made was they should of rented a house here to see if Florida was for them. The selling, buying, then selling and buying cost them more than renting would have been.

I didn't need to rent because I've been coming to Florida since 1985 plus we owned a place in Apopka, Florida. So I knew what I was getting into.

So my advice is to rent first if you decide to move to an area you don't know.

Why limit yourself to the USA? There are amazing places all over planet earth with good climate, great food, cool people, cheaper cost of living, and great healthcare. You could leave cheap enough to afford international travel back to the USA as often as you would usually see the kids or other relatives anyhow.

While I agree there are some other places in the world to visit I couldn't move to some another country. But that is me.

My wife and I escaped Komiefornia November of 2019. South East Arizona has been really good to us. We're at 4,600' elevation and get an inch of snow a couple of times in January or February. June is our hottest month down here. We might see a couple of weeks of 100° days, but that helps to bring in the monsoons.

All good points with the two state life. For us we only have family in the Bay Area and now Daughter-in-law and 2 Grandchildren in Scottsdale AZ

The Wife and I have been looking at areas to retire for 15 yrs or so and have not found the perfect place. For us Health Care is the most important item. Rural areas are nice but you need to drive too far to get to medical care and shopping among other inconveniences. Another thing to consider is what the hell are you going to do there? Keeping busy after retirement is hard for many people. I would suggest you rent an Airbnb for a month in order to get the lay of the land before any permanent move. Unfortunately we have not found any place with the climate here in Ca. Because of Prop 13 my property taxes are very low also. Sit down and list all you expenses. We made a spreadsheet listing as many variables as we could and when we travel to a locale we are interested we see how things stack up. Medical care, taxes (retirement income, property, sales), food prices and availability, insurance, friendliness of the locals, housing costs, things to keep you occupied, weather (all year) etc. The main things keeping us in Ca are weather and we own a substantial amount of property here and have to figure out how to divest it with the minimal amount of a tax hit. So far for us it looks like it’s going to be a summer lake house in Wi and a winter home in Az. The hardest part for us is leaving all our friends and contacts.

Your points are all well taken, we have a second home in the sierras and right now we spend almost 25% of our time there. People sell when they get to old and one of the main reasons in medical care being 45 minutes away, and major shoo-ins is 45 - 60 minutes away. But it is a beautiful RED area. Considering Northern NV where we can keep the Mtn house. I applied for my CCW and in my county there are back logged 1 year in giving approvals, and now with a $20 min wage for what the say is fast food workers is just BS. It will soon filter down to every job, its hard to hire for no nothing no experience job when the applicants can say no thanks I can make $20/hr working at Burger King.

I was awarded higher wages first by gaining carpentry skills and worked my way up. When I wanted more money and better working conditions I went to College full time while working full time with 2 young kids at home. It was a tough 4 yrs but I doubled my income and I had better working conditions. 10 yrs latter I wanted more income and better hours I went back to College for 1 1/2 more years again working full time. I doubled my income again. It was not easy but I gained marketable skills that came with the associated pay. The key is to work hard and get the necessary skills that pay good money. The problem today is people want big money without having to do any work. They want top right away. Fast Food is not a career it’s a stepping stone. You can gain teamwork and customer service skills. When I was a manager at the hospital and hired non-licensed workers people who worked at least 1 year in Fast Food had a leg up on others. People do not realize that it doesn’t cost a company $20 an hour you need to add in unemployment insurance, SS contributions and paid leave among other added costs.

In terms of tacos and trails, Montana is not the choice for you. They know their beef but not tacos. The trails are mostly fire roads and logging roads. I hear the fishing is great but the bears are coming out of hibernation. So a fisherman in a sleeping bag or tent is just a burrito to them.
