Loud humming noise when turning to the right

Whenever I have a noise that I can't find, I let it go until it becomes apparent where it's coming from. It beats throwing money away replacing parts that are good.

My rule of thumb if I do not know right away what it is ,is always eliminate the low hanging fruit first this is usually little to no cost and in most case needs to be done anyway
Check / Change the PS Fluid. Power Steering Fluid does not last forever and should be changed
Check the Steering Box
Rotate the tires (0.00)
Inspect the Brakes (0.00)
Inspect the BJ and Tie Rod ends (0.00)

I’m sure this is my mental block, my wife’s states I’m immature regularly, but what does BJ End mean in this post? In reference to the TJ front end?

Ball Joints and Tie Rod Ends

Ball Joints.jpg

Ball Joints = Camber = Vertical plane of tire / one or both of tires tipping in or out at either the bottom or top of the tire cause excessive tire wear on the usually inside edge of the tire
Pinion Angle = Caster = this affects U-joints and the automatic return to center of the steering wheel after going around a corner (Think of the Front Fork of Motorcycle vs an Old school chopper. This is a give and /take adj some Jeeps have and some don't It is also why axle tubes get cut and rotated, to keep the Caster and correct the driveline angles. This the relationship between the Inner C of the Axle Tube and the outer knuckle of a vertical line through the upper and lower Ball joints, If your standing at the side of the jeep and adj your Caster rotating the axle Counter Clockwise this kills your driveline angle to much Caster Clockwise Improves the Driveline Angle but makes your Jeep drive just like a shopping Cart
Tie Rod Ends = Toe in / Toe Out { are the front tires parallel on a horizontal plane ( look at your Feet are they Parallel to each other / one or both pointing into each other at the toes / or one or both pointing into each other at the heel

The reason i mentioned BJs and tie Rod ENds if one is bad it may be allowing the tire to tip on the right hand turns changing the tires contact patch between the ground and the tire causing the harmonics / Humming to change (unlikely but may be worth looking at )

I was Joking, turn 52 today, maybe Dad Jokes not so good, ha.

Wasn’t questioning Ball Joints, just BJs.

Allrighty, im not at home, but i went and bough PS fluid and a grease gun( why not)

My mind still goes to the re-gear. But as the car has driven 270k km (167.000miles) it wont hurt changing all 4 bearings and greasing everything( ss prev owner 100% has never done it)

Will check PS and do the Grease tune up tomorrow and check back

Report:
Greased up the passanger side, they are both busted. So guessing thats the case on all four tires and probably the U-joints as well. Good times, just going to start changing all bearings i guess.
