Wranglerfixed

I now have the new WranglerFix performance tune. My initial observations:

The process:

Those who already have a WranglerFix ECU send their existing unit back to WranglerFix . They will need your VIN.

The cost for the upgrade is $275. Customers receive an electronic invoice when WranglerFix receives the unit.

Turnaround time was 5 days from California to Florida and back.

What the performance tune does:

This is not a "race tune." Shift points and other parameters have been altered to increase performance and efficiency, but this will not turn your I-6 into a V-8. The best way to describe what the tune does is make the 42RLE automatic transmission with 0.69:1 4th gear/overdrive play nicely with the 4.0L engine. It does that job well.

I have not driven with it enough to record rpms at the shift points, etc., but that will come. My goal so far has been first impressions and observations regarding drivability. In that regard, I can say that my LJ now shifts the way it should have from the factory and I can make more rpm with less throttle.

After reinstalling my WranglerFix ECU with performance tune, the number of times I have reached for the OD "off" button is zero. Before, I couldn't go anywhere without being reminded by sluggish performance of the need to keep OD from engaging. That alone makes the price of the upgrade worthwhile.

Stay tuned.

This is great to read. looking forward to reading the shift point info.

My current WF unit shifts into 4th right around 2500 RPM. I know because I kick it to OD off right then so I don’t lose boost. This is better than starting off with OD off bc lockup comes in much earlier than 2500.

I have some questions for Mark and will give him a ring soon. Thanks for offering this @Wranglerfix

Can some of you guys stop calling Mark so I can get a turn. Haven't been able to get through. I'm trying to throw money at Mark for these newly tuned PCM's to fix my Jeep.

He has staff who answer the phone. If Mark is unavailable you are in good hands with them.

Do you have a turbo specific tune already? Can flynryan write on top of these trans tuns?

I’m running the Banks tune.

I could change the shiftpoints using my HP Tuners device that I still have from when FRP did the stock 4.0L tune. But I believe doing so may leave a "naughty" footprint for the emissions folks to see if I’m ever in a CARB state. Going this route would be cheaper and would work if I never move to a CARB state.

But, if Mark’s PCM changes the shift points to an adequate level, then the WF PCM with the Banks tune would keep me CARB legal.

It’s a messy response to your question, but that’s what I’ve been considering.

I see what you did there. (y)

New PCM ordered with new performance tune.

New performance tune is an extra $275. 5% discount for forum members. No tax for out of FL state buyers and free 2 day shipping. 1 year warranty. No core needed in that 1 year.
