Hi everyone! I have a 2001 TJ that has blown speakers in the sound bar. I need to replace them.
They have infinity grills on them that do not have screws to hold them in place. My question is:
How do I remove these grills without destroying them that even matter since I’m replacing the speakers. I assume they would probably come with new grills.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Many speaker grills have a flexout grill section at 4 points to hold the grill to the plastic speaker base.

You can wedge in a thin flat head and pry gently to wedge them out of their slots. Keep in mind this isnt 100% confirmation of Infinitys method, but its one option that might be it

Usually
2 o clock
4 o clock
8 o clock
10 o clock

Yes most new speakers come with new grills

Thanks for your idea. I will give it a shot. I did talk to Infinity and got zero help from their technical customer service.

Pics? My guess, press fit. Pry them off if there is no screw showing.

Look them up, find the install directions, and do the reverse.

Agree, they come with new grills, buy the new ones, you'll see, and then pry the old off with seriousness.

Infinity speakers are bad. They sound great until you put power into them. Then, they blow. I blew two sets, 4x6 and 5.25 speakers. Infinity speakers are only good without an external amp. The same is true with Kicker speakers. In your current dilemma, I suggest you try turning the grill counter clockwise. If it moves, then you have unlocked it. Then you can easily pry out the grill with a screwdriver between the grill and the plastic ring. Normally, the plastic ring is screwed to the speaker and the grill sits on top, either with turnable latches or bendable latches. This keeps the grill from falling out with street bumps.

If you want a great 4 speaker surround system, do not put 6.5" speakers in the soundbar. Bigger is not always better. The best 4 speaker setup will have the same speakers all around. Upgrade your front speakers to 5.25, and use the same 5.25 in the sound bar. Use polyfill behind the front 5.25 speakers to remove sound loss behind the front speakers. This will allow you to increase the front speaker sound and balance the sound with the rear speakers, giving you perfect 4 speaker surround sound at zero fade. Then, make sure that you have properly set your speaker polarities. Good luck.

My system: 4-CDT 150 watt RMS 5.25 speakers, with a 1500 watt Alpine PDX-v9. I have two 10" subwoofers in a MTX speaker box in the rear. At 50% sound, you can hear my system from 200 feet away. I have a Boss 10" touch screen, boss be10acp, single din, removeable screen, with wireless Android Auto. Everything is tuned. My Alpine PDX-v9, is mounted under my dash with a special TJ mount. It never heats up. I have never blown a speaker. And, there is no system that can compete. I am not bragging. I am just telling you that great sound is possible in our TJ. I added a $100 clarion eqs755 car 7-band graphic equalizer into the extra 1/2 din space to further tweak my sound to absolute perfection.

Well, I had to destroy the speaker grills. However, I learned that I didn’t have to. The metal mesh actually removes giving access to the screws. I didn’t need the speaker grills anyway because the new speakers came with grills. So the lesson learned is when you cannot see access to screws the speaker grill probably removes.
