Best price on a Bestop Supertop NX - UPDATE: Bought and Installed!

This is off-topic but I’m curious - what are those contraptions you have bolted between the corner of the tub and the fender? Some sort of tree/rock protection?

haha, i get a lot of questions about those. I honestly have no true answer, but I think they were added at some point by one of the previous owners. They're VERY stout and bolted through the metalcloak fenders and the tub with sandwich plates. The driver's side allows for a gas pump to be put in between them.

My thought is that yeah, they're meant to fend off hits to the rear quarters, which I would say they've done well since according to the PO's and as evidenced by the many gouges and scratches on the undercarriage, this rig has been across the Rubicon twice and has been on all the notable trails in big bear - with zero damage done to the rear of the tub. (Garvin rear bumper and hitch have some good scratches/dings, too.)

I think they look goofy as heck, but truth be told, they're doing their job and my wife like's them, so they stay for now. :D :D

I have this exact Garvin Wilderness bumper and tire carrier set up and just wanted to point out the I don't think I have seen one yet that still has the funky swingout fuel can mount on the passenger side :D
Side note - I just went to the Garvin web site https://garvinracks.com/ and looks like they just closed their doors on 4/20/24 after 47 years...

Haha, yeah, i’ve seen a few others like that, too. I mean, does it do it’s job? Yup! It’s crazy stout and grabs a nato can really well.

…Until you have to open your swingout and you forget to swing the can out of the way and you tag your $2000+ hardtop, because you’re tired, distracted, stupid and in a hurry (or all three like me :D)

I think what i’ll end up doing is put a thin Rotopax on that side and/or a set of small maxtrax boards to make use of the thin space. Then modify my driver side mount to carry a fuel can/Rotopax.
