I was also alive when you could throw your cell phone in a fit of rage and you'd get a new one for $50.

I went through a couple of phones that way with my ex.
I remember sitting there waiting to be called on by the Verizon rep, and a little old lady sitting next to me said, "You threw your phone, didn't you?"
-"Yes, Ma'am."

—"That's gonna cost you $50!
Do you think it was worth it?"

-"Every time.
It's a lot cheaper than bail."

Unless you hit her with the phone.

We had a contractor who came into our hardware store a lot. Every few weeks he would tell us he did it again. He would be talking to one of his employees then get so mad he would throw the phone out the window of his truck.

He would calm down drive back and look for the phone. Sometimes the phone would be okay, other times he couldn't find the phone, or it was broken.

He said it was cheaper than killing someone.
