Super 35 kit?

So I'll add my $0.02, which don't mean much as I'm fairly new to the Jeep platform. However I've been doing a lot of research and am in the process of upgrading my diffs (30/35) as well. As others have stated, I'd ditch the 37's and the body lift. I've got a 4" suspension lift and run 33's, you can see it in my picture, for reference. As for the super 35. I honestly don't think there is any reason for you to spend the money on it. I'm in the flat south as well. My wheeling is very similar to yours, trails, sand, and the occasional..."F'it, I'm going to try to climbing up that." With the stock setup with 3.07 gears, Its handled everything I've tried, granite I'm a slow, steady, and "precise" type and not the "hold muh beer" as I mash the right pedal to the floor type of guy. I'm going with a Eaton TruTrac, and upgraded 27 spline axles (revolution) out back. I'll be running a Spartan "Locker" up front. I'm going to accompany this with 4.88 Revolution Gears. I'm a 5spd 4.0. After all my reading and research, I believe this combo will be more than sufficient for me and my type of wheeling. Now, if I planned to go rock bouncing, I'd definitely go with a super 35. However 99.8% of my wheeling will be here in Texas with the other .2% in OK. Good luck on whatever you decide and if you order your gear kit from revolution it comes with everything you need. You can also get a 10% off coupon, which is awesome as their prices are already very affordable.

Yea, my driving style is similar to yours. I don’t mash it, but sometimes I do exactly that and say hopefully it won’t break and go for it lol. After doing more and more research I agree with you. I have come to realize A- tj wheel base is not long enough to even run 37’s safely ESPECIALLY with how tall I am. I’m reallocating funds in different areas. Going with a dual rate spring system, removing the body lift, and dropping to 35s or 33s after I go with low cut fenders I feel. I’ll run it until it breaks and then I’ll upgrade axles to either hardened 27 spline or the 35 super that I haven’t decided. It just adds up quick, especially since I’m a 4 banger I found a 5:13 kit to fit in the Dana 35 and Dana 30 so I’ll do that when the time comes. My new direction is largest 35s with a low center of gravity. What part of Texas? I used to work out in San Antonio, dallas ft worth, to El Paso been all over that state

I'm in Tomball, basically NW Houston. Yeah, there are times where you have to resort to the "mash it and go, hope it don't break" method. I think you've got a good plan going there. One of the main reasons I'm re-gearing is its just a complete dog to drive with the 33's and 3.07 gears. I do quiet a bit of HWY/FWY driving and keeping it at 70-75, so I don't get run over, can be a challenge at times. I can only imagine what its like in the 4 banger. So I figured while I'm in there, might as well add some other goodies to assist while wheeling...right? You're right, it can add up quick. However keep your eyes peeled in the for sale section here and FB MP. I scored that Eaton here for a song. Also, check out revolution gears. They are pretty highly regarded around here and considerably more affordable than the other "name brand" options. Then add another 10% discount on their pricing, its hard to beat.

I need to calculate my current gearing but it’s reallllllly tall. I’m doing 65 mph in 3rd and can never even use 4th or 5th. If I put it in 4th and hold it to the floor it won’t even get past 2100 rpm. So I’m trying to figure out how this PO drove this. Had it for a 3 weeks and I’m still scratching my head at all the stuff he completing screwed up.

So as mentioned, I'm a 5sp 4.0 with 3.07 & 33's. 5th gear is useless. I tried using it once when I first got the Jeep, and that was at 70ish mph. Even with my foot to the floor, I lost speed. As long as I keep it at or above 2500rpm in 4th, its not to bad. However it will lose speed going over an overpass in that scenario.

If you have stock gearing, then you're geared 32% taller than stock. That is significant. With the 37's and stock axle ratio, both 4th and 5th gears are taller than 5th gear alone with stock tires. Seriously, drop to 33's and go to 5.13 gears, you will see a world of difference. It will still only be similar to a stock 4 cylinder, but a whole lot better than what you have. 35's would leave a lot to be desired even with the gears, so I'd go straight to 33's.

When i bought my jeep with 3.07s and 33s i cruised nicely in 4th for 3 hrs home on the freeway.

I'm glad i smapped a Dana 35 shaft the first time i took it out.it forced me to get rid of the 3.07s sooner than later!
