This may actually work out!

The only thing I can tolerate a touchscreen for in a vehicle is when I have my laptop running a GPS map. Just a few big icons to touch. And even then, it drives me nuts.

Touchscreens on GPS actually makes sense - as long as the touchscreen actually *works*. I have little problem with my Garmins, but lots of touch screens just don't work well for me. *shrug*

Doesn't the tj dash radio opening have more of a rounded corner, that Durango dash opening looks fairly square in comparison off of memory.

Additionally, I wouldn't really spend an arm and a leg on audio equipment for the jeep if thats the direction your heading. highs and mids are ok but there just isn't the room available needed to produce the lows.

audio quality is acceptable at low speeds and with the roof on but once the roof is off and your traveling at speed quality of audio kinda turns into what a blaring job site radio sounds like.. just hearing the high notes.

I put some money into upgrading audio in my tj, including a powered sub which is amazing - at least to me. Not a ton of money spent, but enough to buy pretty good quality stuff. No doubt some of the best money I’ve spent on the tj. I can now hear music very well with good quality sounds with roof and doors off for up to about 50mph. Higher speeds I can still hear it, but as you said really only the higher sounds. Fortunately I drive almost exclusively under 50mph, I very rarely choose to drive on the highway. To some it may not make sense to spend money on the audio, but I just want to say that I’ve had an extremely positive experience.

Opening depends on year, 97-00, square, 01-05 round, I think.
Mine is an '00.. and it's square.

I've been following the OPs adventure with the head units. I would really like a screen but for a number of reasons won't do a double DIN. And, I definitely need a knob for volume control..

I wouldn't buy that. The fuckin diagram is wrong.

Also I noticed you got like 4 threads on audio, you can prob keep most of that stuff on one

"So I did a thing"
"This may actually work out!"
"I just put in an offer for $100. I'll keep you posted"

These read like scam YouTube clickbait titles.

what are the specs on that deck? you posted a pic with no details. 50w x4 is unlikely from a deck, what is the THD? i'm guessing its over 1% and maybe even 10% if they are advertisng 50w x4 RMS.

are you going to be running a sub? if the specs are right on those Focal 130AC’s, you wont get much base with a 70hz low range cutoff.
what about tweeters? 20k hz is pretty low cutoff for the high range.

the specs on these remind me of bose speakers? now highs no lows, must be bose
