Battery temp sensor

My jeep stalled at my mailbox after a car wash with under spray. Had no spark. After sitting for about 15 minutes had spark and started. Ran rough and died as I pull up to my shop door. I replaced the distributor thinking 173k miles the bushings and pick up need it. Started right up but the volt gauge dropped. Shut it off and hooked a meter to battery. Alternator wasn’t working. Then it would spike up to 14+ volts and drop down. I let it sit over night thinking I would pull it and have it bench tested. Started to verify wasn’t working before pulling it and damn if it works now. Jeep runs for a few minutes at a high idle then loads up and dies. My scan tool showed a P0505 and a P0500. Removed the TB and IAC. Scrubbed the IAC seat and pintle. I cleared the codes and restarted with the same results minus the P0500 code. Cleared the codes, unplugged the IAC, restarted and let it run til stalling. No codes. Replaced the IAC. No codes but runs poorly and still dies. At this point I am stumped.

Update: hooked up fuel pressure gauge. Running at a steady 48 PSI and normal idle speed. Was starting up the scanner when it just quit like turning off the key. Going to test the crank sensor next.

Just took the ECM out and water drips out of it!
Have it sitting in the sun drying out while I find a replacement.
It has a tag reading mileage and a date of 2015.

Hello Everyone!
I am new here and Im excited to learn and share. I bought myself an 03 TJ with 50 k miles and the engine light tripped day one LOl
My mechanic said the code read battery temp sensor. He wiggled it a little and tightened it and the light went off. fast forward 6 months and the engine light came back on. I have a new mechanic and he said the code read battery sensor cable ( same as before) but this time the engine light stays on. I called auto zone and they are not exactly sure what I need ( neither am I ) they said Jeep has a monopoly on this. does anyone else know what this is and have any of you had the problem and or fixed it?
thanks!

First, never (!) implicitly trust what any Autozone store employee says. Few know anything more than what's on the screen in front of them and I wouldn't guarantee they're interpreting that correctly either. To refute his claim, battery temperature sensors are common on modern vehicles. https://www.google.com/search?q=Do+....9317j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#cobssid=s

The Mopar part number for your TJ's battery temperature sender is 56027332. If you replace it make sure to also inspect the the wiring harness leading up to its connector, look for damage like chaffed or melted insulation. Here's one on eBay for $20. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1855338036...d=link&campid=5337789113&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
