I got a Ramsey 9000 that looks just like that. It is a tough SOB. Been on 3 vehicles since I bought it sometime in the 80s. Clear woods with it pulling big trees down, roots and all, using snatch blocks and chains. I made a hitch plate way before you could buy them, so i can use it on my receiver hitch on different trucks. Still got it.

I am finding they were popular with the Scout, og Bronco, and CJ crowds. Might not be worth the investment for me to rebuilt the electrics, but still considering options.

Use that old, corroded Ramsey for a doorstop. Look for a good lightly used Warn winch, lots around.
Don't throw money at a lost cause. D

I hear you. I am still debating. Ramsey has a solid reputation, although not as popular/marketed. I got this for next to nothing and was liking the idea of the project, but it will still take a couple hundred to get this one properly electrically connected. Keeping my options open re a good FB deal on a Warn, if it happens by.

You will be way more happy with a Warn. Parts are still available for most of them.
