We have a 2006 TJ that has developed torque converter shudder. Is there a way to change the parameters so that the converter never tries to lock up? Or a switch be added? The jeep is lucky to see 45 mph and is used for a 20 minute commute so I’m not too concerned about it or I’d replace the converter. The shuddering is annoying lol. Thanks for any information.

The good news is that the TCC lockup runs on a fused circuit, so you can just pull the fuse to defeat the lockup.

The bad news is that same fuse contols all the shift solenoids, so it may not give you exactly what you are looking for. I think your only real option is to cut the wire from the PCM to the solenoid, not that I recommend cutting factory wiring. You'll get a P0743 or P0744 code, possibly others as well.

When was the last time you serviced it?

Not Jeep, but there was a Ford TSB back in the day for the AODE regarding torque converter shudder. A fluid change was the fix.
