I suspect it's on par with every other Chinese winch on the market. I wouldn't buy it if I was going to be using my winch all the time, but if it's mostly a bumper ornament with the occasional usage, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

I guess that's my point. Let's see....some Warn, Ramsey, Comeup, and some Superwinches, can you give me any other winches that are not produced in China?

I'm honestly trying here. I mean I have watched tons of videos and keep researching....but seems pretty much everything other than what I listed appears to be produced in China. Have others?....I'm all ears.
 
Mishimoto isn't exactly known for quality with their radiators either so idk if them being involved makes much of a difference

US R&D aside because we have no way of knowing what effect that actually has on the end product, what are you after? Is there anything about the Mishimoto offering that separates it from the stuff at Harbor Freight or Smittybilt other than the stigma of driving around with that on your bumper?
 
I'm not super interested in their winches....just saw it and thought that was something different. Nice looking winch.

Also think the Carbon winches are nice looking.

I am more than likely going to go with a Warrior Winch or Quadratec.....However the Borne has a nice warranty...says limited lifetime. That's also what made me interested. But again....trying to navagate a sea of Chinese is hard. And honestly new Warn is not old Warn in my opinion.

No....I'm mostly looking for higher IP rating, customer service and overall quality.

Any winch on the market can fail at any point.

I watched Project Farms review of winches...and if they were still available it appears the cheap Chineseium one is one of the best...but it is not available.

I am actually looking for 2 winches....heavier for my Gladiator Ecodiesel and lighter for the TJ.

I have owned Warn, Quadratec, Superwinch (Husky so not exactly a normal Superwinch) and 1 Smittybilt (not a fan). I have not bought a winch for 14 years at this point. A lot changes in 14 years.

I am looking for what everyone looks for, quality, at minimum R&D done here or England or Australia, relatively reliable, made decently and will work when I need it.

I do use my winches when needed, and I do some recovery when I can help people out. Heck pulled someone out of snow situation without a winch couple weeks ago.

So not married to this Borne Winch...just saw something new to me and thought...hmmm that's interesting I wonder if anyone has any experience....nothing more nothing less.

I have been looking for several weeks. There are a couple out there, but very slim pickings here in a relative close distance to me.

Not for nothing but putting much stock in that goober's reviews is not far removed from using the National Enquirer for relationship advice and as a handbook to dictate foreign policy. I broke my inviolable (mostly) rule and watched his snatch strap bullshit and came away astounded that he didn't manage to kill himself since he understands nearly nothing about recovery.

I need one more part for a conversion on a 9.5XP and then I'll be able to sell off a NEW but horribly sun faded Warn 10S Zeon (let me verify) for a deal. It is either that or restore the faded coating on it and if I don't have to, I'd be happy.

This is something I can get behind! FYI I am very good at polishing turds if you haven't seen my TJ yet.
