I have a 2004 lj I6 auto. It has been running great, no issues. I accidently left the ignition key on while working on aux. lights and drained the battery. Started it up today and have an idle of apporx. 2,500rpm and then drops back to approx 1250rpm. I have "looked" for a loose/cracked vacuum line with no success. Would the battery discharging have anything to do with a fast idle after charging? Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a sticking IAC.

Assuming you have charged the battery.

I'd disconnect the battery to reset the PCM and go from there.

Mine has a high/hunting idle sometimes after driving for about 30 minutes. feels like its pulling against the converter in drive, then surges and drops back down or settles at around 1,100 rpm. If i shut it off and restart it settles down.

Probably time to clean or replace the IAC. Just replaced mine as I never knew what the idle at the next stop was going to be. Cleaning didn't fix it. New IAC did.

Just getting back to the LJ. Busy and HOT week in SE North Carolina. Going to reconnect the battery and see what happens. Fingers crossed
