as if we didn't see this bullshit coming. Built-in obsolescence has always been a thing, but modern vehicles and electronics & products of all kinds now have an even better built-in excuse for their shitty products transitioning to worthless overnight, "sorry, we no longer support that software".
And I put zero credence in their statements to the effect that "don't worry, even when we stop supporting the software that only means you can't get updates, you'll still be able to drive your car". Bullshit. One day your windshield wipers won't work, the next day the car won't start, or take a charge, or some other critical thing rendering it a 6,000lb paperweight.

If you don't think that your (and my) ICE vehicles are going to be liberal'd out of existence in the coming years you haven't been paying attention.
I'll worry about that when it happens - I pay little attention to gloom and doom because 98% of it doesn't come true after all. Until such time, I just won't participate in the idiocy.
Subscription-based door handles; generally operate under a Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) 
something about having manual windows because when you spend a few seconds winding the window down to flip somebody the bird it means you really needed to do it..
