Hi All,
Sorry for the erratic post, but losing my mind trying to find this. Have this odd 'vibration' or sound that comes in intermittently in the driveline around 2000 rpm in some gears, sometimes...easy to pinpoint right LOL. Rides and drives beautifully 95% of the time and then out of the blue, this comes on.
2005 TJ stock height, no lift or spacers
6 speed replaced with new 5 speed years ago (25,000km) has been smooth - new clutch, pilot and throwout at that time
When this vibration/sound happens is generally under load, even light load. And generally in 3rd or 4th, but sometimes 2nd...just harder to notice because you are in and out of gear so quick. Feels like it loses power, but that just may be a sensation because it feels off. When it happens it sounds like a muffler on its way out. My buddy says he can't hear or feel it, but have been driving this thing for 15 years and it's just not right...or consistent.
More details/thoughts
When you push the clutch in it goes away. That should make it easy right? Ha.
So theoretically not engine related...and backed up by my scanner that says everything is good. Engine purrs.
Driveshaft can't be bent 'sometimes'.
Can't feel any lateral play in the TC output shaft.
No play in diff yoke. (just did diff service and nothing in oil)
No codes.
Figured a binding u-joint perhaps, changed both, still there.
Even changed the muffler and tailpipe on the off chance, no go.
So i am kinda stuck in my brain that it is between the TC output and the flywheel. But before I pull it all apart, thought I would look for some sage advice in case it is something simple I am missing.
Bad pilot? Clutch? Trans bearings (new advance adapters ax15 trans 25k km ago)?
It's the intermittent thing that is befuddling me the most.
Thanks for any advice!
