Operation Phoenix

Redid the 3/8 aluminum tubing on the power steering cooler. The flare fatigued into nothing and started leaking. Secured the line with two clamps this time...and did a much better job bending and flaring the tube.

Well...the new power steering line failed. Sheered off right behind the fitting. Ordered a 90 degree barbed fitting and 5 feet of transmission line and it's just going to be soft line. I guess there's just too much flex in the chassis even though it's only secured to the 1/4" thick winch plate. All this finding another RV to clean up...

Ah, you didn't need that tooth anyway. What happened, do you know?

Dunno. I haven't had it open for at least three years. Moab. X2 Rubicon. Sand Hollow. Everything and anything in between.

Now I can't get the driver axle over enough to pull out the c clip. I wacked on it hard enough to break my dead blow.

Oh and my connector depin tool ain't depinning. Grr.

Come to the conclusion the axle splines are twisted. Probably a few thou from getting it out but I feel like I've bottomed out on the splines.

Luckily I have lots of practice with a 12 lb sledge.

Slide hammer down...cracked my 25 year old wheel hub flange...tried welding it up. No dice.

Now do I spend $100 on a new slide hammer or spend two days trying to draw the bolt pattern in cad to cut a new flange out and then weld a nut on to make a new tool. Hmm.

Still having issues with Fusion too because the g code it outputs goes fine until the first torch pick up...then it doesn't bother to lower the torch.

Allah rockbar to the rescue. About thirty hard hits and she's out.

Found the missing gear bolt in the pinion cavity of all places.

As expected heavy wear on the outer pinion race.

And twisterpation on the axle as predicted.

Thinking I'm calling Revolution on Monday and getting a driver's axle, yoke (I suspect it's is spread because the u joint slides back and forth), a master install kit.

I'm leaving the chipped tooth ring gear in for now.

Well I twisted 35 spline shafts in my CRD60....

Any idea "when" it might of happened?

I've got plenty of video. Problem is going through all of it. Still haven't had a chance to edit Sand Hollow.

Wonder if I could feed all of my footage into AI and have it suggest moments.

No idea. Not too worried about it.

Honestly probably would have been fine with it twisted and not discovering anything.

I was going after a loose pinion.

I'm still waiting for the pictures/video of my foot getting ran over....

OK so when did it happen? Something recent?

Yep I wasn't planning on finding a chipped tooth either...
