2004 Wrangler A/C Replacement

I got a 2004 Wrangler (Sahara) a few months ago. It has about 175k miles on it. It's mainly a weekend vehicle so don't put too many miles on it & have been enjoying it so far.

When I bought it, I knew the AC didn't work. If I wanted to get the AC fully working again, what would a total replacement cost? Not sure I will do it, but just wondering. I plan to take it to my mechanic next week for an oil change so will maybe have him look at it, but just wondering what I could be possibly looking at.

Depends on what it needs. If it's just a compressor you might be looking around $1000-$1500 give or take.

You can price the parts at Jeep Air. If you're having a shop do it, the only way to know is to get a quote.

If you're in Mid GA, Auto Air of Macon or Smith's Radiator do good work.

You doing the work yourself? You could replace the whole AC system in parts from Rockauto for about $500-600. Compressed/drier ~300, condenser 70, evaporator 40, and $100-150 for all hoses and lines. Labor costs would be mechanic and location dependent.

This pricing agrees with my previous total A/C replacement. Add $100-$150 for a vacuum pump and manifold if you don't already have one, then you're at about $700-$750.
