Ok, all the wrangler fix positive reviews

Whats the reason for buying from wrangler fix VS some if the other vendors that sell replacements, some about the same price and others cost much less but with sending in a core.

What do you really get
My understanding is no performance changes

Do you wait till you have problems

1100.00 is alot of insurance with only a 2 year warranty for probabilities of failure

Trying to decide what to do as mine us not a daily driver and has no current issues ( knock on wood)

If you have no current reason to replace it, I wouldn't worry about it right now. Do you keep a spare engine, trans, tires, interior, etc on hand? If so, I guess adding a PCM doesn't hurt 😂.

But Wranglerfix is prefered (from what I've seen... No personal experience) due to their excellent customer service and vast knowledge of the pcm/platform. Others may be as good or better, but they haven't proven themselves to anyone here.

To my knowledge none of the other companies have redesigned the PCM like WranglerFix has to correct the reason why they fail in the 1st place. The 2005 and 2006 PCM with the Automatic TCM integrated in seems to have the most issues. I bought a WranglerFix for my 06 Auto 3 years ago. Had it not been for forum knowledge, I would have 100% been rebuilding or replacing my transmission due to shifting and chattering issues and it slipping like crazy with the fluid getting burnt. Replaced my PCM, changed fluid and filter, and the transmission has been problem free for the last 3 years.
The WranglerFix PCM isn't cheap, and they don't take your old one as a core as they can't use them due to their poor design. To me, and many on the forum, it is money well spent when needed. Mark is also pretty amazing with support and customer satisfaction. I received a phone call from him after receiving my order to make sure everything worked correctly.

Oh, no need to replace until yours starts acting up: O2 heater codes, hard shifting AT, gauges dropping out, engine glitching off while driving.

My OEM PCM went at 265K or so in '23.

My buddy and I both bought Wranglerfix PCMs for ours soon after buying those 16 months ago. Did so for different reasons. His being 2003 Rubicon 42RLE acquired with a single chipped Sentry key and mine being a 2005 Rubicon 42RLE with the failure prone integrated TCM. He wanted to ditch SKIM which was accomplished by removing that module before powering up the new W-F PCM and mine for greater peace of mind in case of failure on a remote trail. I did keep my operational OEM PCM as backup "insurance policy". Both W-F PCMs have been working great...

Wait until you deal with the "other guys" customer service.

Mark (@Wranglerfix) is the epitome of good customer service. There are very few like him in this world and I can promise you you'll get some the best customer service from Mark you've ever received. Not only that, but when you need him, he'll be there.

I have yet to deal with Wranglerfix, but I see how he helps people here on the forum and how he answers questions in a complete and forthright manner without making you feel like an idiot for asking in the first place - unlike some others I could name. I wouldn't go anywhere else on that alone. If you don't need his product, he'll tell you so and will work with you to make that determination.

Dealing with Mark reminds me of a level of customer service that used to be common in this country but has now been lost with the enshitification of everything.

Some people are willing to pay more for good customer service. I'm one of those people because I think that these days it's something that the entire business should be founded upon.

Wranglerfix PCMs just work and they work well. Most importantly you get Mark and his team supporting you and your issues.

That being said if I lose the PCM on my 97 I'm probably going to try and replace it with a Haltech.

A WranglerFix PCM plus a Flying Ryan tube is pretty close to the same price.

Modern PCM would let me add fuel pressure and temp, oil temp and data log. Let me do tuning to optimize my stroker build. Let me add can bus controlled relays to Integrate my lockers and lights so I could program in safeties like speed limits or shutoffs for my lockers so prevent me from being stupid. I could up my charge voltage for my AGM battery.

But it's a ton of work. The easiest way is a WranglerFix PCM.

All I know is that my jeep was saved by Wrangler fix twice. Not because his first PCM failed, but my OEM did with the factory equipped manual. Then I auto swapped a few years after and that auto OEM from the donor failed maybe 4 years later.

I've never read positive long term reviews across so many people on any other provider. I paid full price for the manual one (over a grand) and got the auto at a discount after winning ROTM when he was a sponsor - but would have paid full price if I didn't have that generous benefit.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well, there might be something wrong with that.

Another way to look at the WranglerFix PCM is you're essentially replacing a 20 yr old piece of electronic equipment. Circuit boards get cold solder joints, traces pull away from circuit boards, components go out of tolerance and things degrade over time. If and when you start having issues it make sense to replace the most important electronic component with something that was engineered from the ground up, perfected, and then sold you as a brand new computer hopefully giving you 20 more years of service.

This is one of the reasons we love TJs because they don't have a lot of computers like the JKs and JLs or any 'modern' vehicle. Imagine the shits show these vehicles are going to suffer in the future (assuming anything currently being produced would ever make it past 10 years without complete failure).

Ways the WranglerFix PCM Helps Manual TJs (according to AI Overview)

    • Resolves Stalling and Starting: Fixes failing ignition-sense circuits and intermittent stalling issues common in late-model TJ factory computers.
    • Clears False Codes: Eliminates phantom trouble codes, such as misleading oxygen (O₂) sensor warnings triggered by a failing stock PCM.
    • Improves Throttle Response: Retunes fuel delivery and ignition timing to enhance overall throttle sensitivity and acceleration.
    • Smooths Out Idling: Restores a steady, smooth engine idle by correcting factory electrical parameters.
    • Custom VIN Programming: Ships pre-tuned to your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and transmission type, ensuring correct manual-transmission operation.

Going to get one from W.flx, so i have a spare :)
More of a question for you @Wranglerfix : No problem with having two PCM`s tailored to the same VIN?
