I wouldn't stop at the 5.9 for that truck. I'd use an 8.3l turned up until she puffed black smoke a bit every time the throttle moved! 6-700 hp and close to 1500 lb ft

Hey now, I know solid axles can't boast about their ride quality but damn... it's not that bad!
Unless of course you like running low profile tires on massive diameter rims and crappy aftermarket suspension "upgrades".
My stock suspension 2006 rides "decent" for a solid axle with the 275/65/20s on 9" wide wheels on it. Especially when comparing it to the 2010 with 33/12.50/20s with the 10" wide wheels my dad let the local kid at Les Schwab convince him to put on it...
I do have to admit it is definitely due for a new shocks (upgrade?) and it could use a leveling kit, but a 2" leveling kit wont go on without an upgrade to Thuren or Carli soft ride components and some tuned/adjustable shocks.

I'm running 285/75-18s on my 3500, and ok I may have exaggerated a little but not really that much.

Don't know anything about those. 2 sticks was as many as I ever drove.
It's definitely hard to make a solid axle compete with independant suspension in the ride comfort game. I will say that good shocks and airbag instead of coils in the front was a game changer on the '10. But it turns out airbags and plowing snow on gravel roads isn't a very good combination. I'm half tempted to put the airbags on my '06 but I'd need to get a compressor kit first. $$$

This 100%. I believe we have personal obligations to help the less fortunate, and I think most people in this country feel the same way.
It isn't charity if people with guns show up and say "give or we'll take your stuff and throw you in jail." That's what taxes are.
If government wasn't robbing us blind there'd be so much more money to go around. People would be more generous and giving, AND the money would be spent much more effectively.

I have Carlie signature series shocks, thuren XS front springs, thuren shackles, and a thuren track bar I'll be putting on in November or December. Happy to report back on ride quality but I'm actually pretty happy with how it rides on stock suspension. Obviously it's not a half ton but still.
I'm running on 35/12.5r17. it rides way better then when I had 275/70r17s

I'm not quite that old, but sure feel it sometimes! I was born as the Musclecar Era was getting going.
I never drove a 5/4 but did find myself shaking hands with a couple of different 2 stick Macks.

This made me remember an interview with a US Congressman / Senator (can’t remember who) back in the early 2000s during a discussion about balancing the federal budget and reducing spending. The host made a comment about foreign spending and the Congressman said it goes without saying that is off the table, it is only domestic spending that is able to be considered for cutting. Needless to say my eyes popped at that comment. WTH?!? We can cut spending on our own citizens, but can’t cut spending on foreign entities?
Yea, I'd look at light commercial. Years back, they didn't cost much more than a 1 ton, but without most of the crap. Dunno about now...
The problem with ALL government spending is stopping it when it turns bad. Even if a program starts with the best of intensions, with great and effective management and success, it doesn't stay that way over time.
We've all seen formally great businesses that provided great products and services turn to shit over time. When that happens people figure it out and take their money elsewhere.
But when a government program turns bad it's not the the individual can simply stop paying for it. That why government should be limited as much as possible.
Respecting private property means people can spend their money as they see fit. Just like with local charities, if individuals want to send their money to other countries that's their right. If there's a good case to be made, make the case and let people decide themselves.
Keep government out of it as much as possible.
People don't seem to understand it. Lots are more than happy to give away money that isn't theirs, but all of a sudden become very tight when it comes to them donating unless there is some sort of benefit to them.
Even SOME government programs, to a certain extent, are good. What they need to do before handing out money though, is know where it's going and how it is used. I don't want to give money to somebody unless I know they are going to use it to make their circumstances better, not buy drugs or blow it on dumb crap.
If the fraud and unnecessary spending was stripped back, I think you could have a lot lower taxes and still manage some support programs for people genuinely in need. The problem is it becomes very labor intensive to manage if that money is being spent effectively and fraud isn't happening.

Seems that people these days are void of common sense and critical thinking skills. People are so shallow now.
Back to the beating. The rust didn't stop with the pads. First wheel took an hour to get everything off. This stuff works.
