I jailbroke my iPhone a while back on iOS 9.3.3 and after having gone without a jailbreak prior to that since losing it after 9.0.2, well... I don't know how I went without it for so long!

The features that jailbreaking your iOS device provide are pretty spectacular if you're a geek like me.

User interface customization is pretty fun. I shrunk my icons to 75% of their original size and made them semi transparent. You're also able to change your carrier string to anything you want so I made it look like the space invaders guy. I also removed the background bar from the dock and added an icon, increasing the dock to 5 icons. I enabled embedded folders as well. Also, I removed the labels from the dock icons. Check it out:

Jailbreaking also allows you to have full root access to the file system. Most people are probably unaware that iOS actually has a very robust UNIX backbone. I am also able to SSH into my iPhone and manipulate files that way if I'd like. I installed a really handy terminal application that lets me do all the UNIX good stuff:

For when I'm lazy or just want to poke around, I use iFile... iFile is an app similar to OS X's Finder or Windows Explorer. I prefer terminal but iFile gets it done:

There are so many other tweaks and such that I've installed and would really miss if I didn't have the device jailbroken. I can download YouTube videos. I can add/remove music and other media without iTunes. I can plug my iPhone directly into a computer and it shows up as a USB drive, so I'm basically carrying around a 64GB USB drive with me all the time. I've got a really awesome voice recorder program that allows me to record incoming/outgoing calls and even let's me disguise my voice.

If you're still on iOS 9.3.3, I highly recommend jailbreaking. It's free and safe as long as you stay away from shady Cydia repositories. Cydia is basically the third party AppStore with thousands of apps and tweaks that Apple would never approve.

I had jailbroke my old iPhone 4, but honestly hadn't even though about doing my 6 Plus. I might have to look into doing it to mine. :)

Well, I'm on 9.3.5, so looks like I'll be waiting until one is released for this version. :(

Yep! :-(

Apple immediately released 9.3.4 after the jailbreak was released and the only thing it "fixed" was the exploits the jailbreak used. Shortly after, 9.3.5 came out which actually did fix some security issues but there is a tweak downloadable from Cydia that notifies you if you have the malware that 9.3.5 fixes so you can address it.

I should have posted this right when the jailbreak came out because I'm sure many of you have updated to 9.3.5.

If you still have 9.3.3, I will be happy to help anyone here jailbreak their device. I love it and won't be upgrading to iOS 10 until it has been jailbroken. Anything on iOS 10 that's new will be able to be implemented on 9.3.3 via Cydia.

I may do this to my 6S Plus!

If you're on 9.3.3 do it! The dev certificate attached to the jailbreak will last until August of 2017! I'll even make the jailbreak IPA for you using my own dev account so you don't have to use yours. I have several throwaway dev accounts just for that purpose.

I'm an apple cracker, code hacker slacker!
Hangin on the TJ forum yacker!

I forgot to mention, @Chris
My battery lasts way longer and the phone is faster with the jailbreak. Why? Because I was able to disable more than half of the startup daemons that I don't use!

I also removed over three gigs of crap that I don't use! About 30 other language files, including the audio files/voice recognition stuff for all those languages.

Nice!! I wonder if it will help with data usage? When I switched from Android to my 6+, it used about 4x the data. I got it down to less by disabling some things, but it still uses at least double. It actually has me wanting to switch to an S7...

LOL, look at all those shitty daemons being run in the background that 99% of us are never using. Friggin' Health Kit, Chinese WLAN, etc... Total BS.

Maybe a little but not enough to make a difference. It's mostly for eye candy and a bit of a speed increase. I actually sped up all the iOS animations as well so it looks way faster.

I've got so many little tweaks that I don't even remember them all but when I use a stock iPhone it is almost unbearable after getting used to mine.
