I got my Jeep last month (and can't imagine driving any other 4-wheeled vehicle!) and was wondering what the factory interior color looked like. The seats and console have been replaced with a 'Spice' color, but the 'Khaki' trim looks almost gray. I want to replace the seat covers and possibly coat/paint/replace the console and am looking for color ideas/inspiration: gray vs Khaki, thinking black is probably too hot for Hawaii.

Is this is a Rubicon or a non-Rubicon model? If it's a Rubicon, it's got to be khaki, as I've never seen a Rubicon come with grey (I think they only had tan, khaki, and slate grey (which is black) as an option).

Khakiy and grey are definitely very close in color. What you have there looks more grey to me, but if it's a Rubicon, it's got to be khaki.

Those seat covers are definite not stock (obviously). What is that weird plastic handle (or ash tray?) in the center of the seat? That's not stock by any means either.

It's a 2005 Rubicon and the build sheet says Khaki, but yes it looks close to gray (probably moreso in cool afternoon light). The seats are Corbeau MOAB seats in Spice neoprene. Corbeau has vinyl replacement covers for those seats, in either Spice, Gray (kind of a lighter gray) or black.

So the stock seats would have been a matching Khaki?

The 'ash tray' looking think is what they call an anti-submarine slot, but I have no idea what it actually does. FWIW the MOAB seats have holes in the upper back rest for a harness.

Try pulling off the passenger side speaker bezel from the dash. Mine had a sticker on the inside that showed the official color name.

That slot is to make the harness into a five point harness. You'll have another strap in between your legs if you utilize it.

I might be late to the party, but....

If you check your VIN sticker that is in your door jam in the picture, you will see it says "TRIM:" followed by some letters and numbers. That is the interior color of your Jeep. Most likely it will be "P5J3", which is named KHAKI. I also have a 2005 RUBICON in the same color combination as yours. I LOVE THIS COLOR COMBINATION..!!! Sorry, didn't mean to shout that... Any way, I hope that might help a little bit. Also, the SEM brand touchup paint for the interior color KHAKI is color SEM #5545.

The antisubmarine slot on your seat is for an extra seat restraint strap to hook to your 4 point harness to keep you from sliding under your restraint (hence the "AntiSubmarine) in case of a frontal collision, really only used for competition type cars/trucks.

I attached a couple of pictures of mine when i first got it, those are the factory seats in KHAKI.
