What's the best off the shelf bed liner, roll or spray on?

Don't waste your money on any spray can liner. You need a two-part kit (activator and paint) if you want something that will last. Get some Raptor liner and a schutz gun and you'll be good to go.

A buddy of mine at work who is a painter swears by this stuff. I have not personally used it so I can't say much but I have seen several of his projects with it and it really does look "heavy" and durable. Sprays really thick. I've used the rustoleum in the back of a small truck and as mentioned here its pretty much textured paint. It has held up ok but I put ALOT into prep and done 3 coats.

For paint type coating, POR-15 followed by POR Chassis Black. Stuff will totally prevent rust and give you a very protective finish that will NOT come off. Used Herculiner on one of my previous Jeeps. It worked great and held up well but didn’t look real professional, if that sort of thing bothers you. Just had my current TJ sprayed with LineX. Extremely pleased with the results :) not so much with the price :( $900 clams.

As others have mentioned, Prep is everything.

IIRC, They quoted about that much for LineX here in the DFW area. My father's truck has it, and it is righteous. Still, that's a lot of money.

That looks great. You did a really good job. Have you noticed any difference in cabin noise with the top on?
The noise difference wasn't big enough for me to really notice. I had the top removed when I sprayed it and for a few months afterwards so it wasn't really a back to back comparison though. The biggest thing that I have noticed after removing the carpet and spraying was how hot it can get near the fire wall. If you occasionally slip your feet through the peddles to stretch like I do you will find it almost to hot to touch back there. Of course this could be solved by adding a rubber floor mat but I just avoid the area.
