I have been lurking a bit here and seems like everyone is on the same page so I thought I'd join up.
I'm an old guy, early retired (there's a story behind that), and live with my wife, 13 year-old daughter, and our dog in northeast Pennsylvania. We live in the middle of nowhere. Preliminaries covered.
I had a 2000 TJ sport I bought new and it was my daily driver for 11 years and 211,000 miles until I started letting my older daughter drive it. I'm sure you can see where this is headed and I put down the $7000 insurance settlement on a Nissan Frontier (it made more sense at the time). But the Jeep got in my blood back then and I'm finally looking around for another one.
I found a possible candidate a few days ago about 3 hours from where I live. It's a 2000, 6 cyl 5 speed, green with a tan soft top. It's identical to my old Jeep with the exception of a mild 3" lift and some tubulars. It's owned by a mid-forties woman with two kids and has only 56,000 miles on it. She's asking $14,000 but is already lowering it to $13,000. It's beautiful from what I can see in the pictures and does not appear abused at all. Here's the thing that makes me queasy a bit though: it was originally purchased in Kansas and was immediately shipped to Hawaii where it resided until 2006. At that point it had 46,000 miles on it (Car Fax), but from 2006 - 2019 it's only been driven a little under 11,000 miles and I wonder why that is. The Car Fax stops at 2006.
I inquired about the TJ and the owner has an "agent" listing and selling it for her. Since I'm so far away I asked for pictures of the underside and he sent me a ton of them. Since I'm brand new here if someone could tell me how and where to post those pictures so I don't look like a smacked bottom right out of the gate I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks for reading.
