I have a 99 TJ with a 4inch suspension lift. I want it back to stock or no more than a 2inch lift. I know I need springs, shocks, arms..ect.... any advise on where to look or how best to approach this? Too bad they don't make a "stock" suspension kit..

Presuming you have a 2.5 engine (all from Rock Auto)

As close to a kit as you're likely to get. You will need to do some math since you need 8 arms and 4 shocks.

The track bars presume the current lift did not use relocation brackets which I doubt at 4''.

I am sure I missed something but you'll most likely need some misc stuff when you change the bump stops and/or a new pitman arm if yours is dropped.

That's a great place to start. I do have a 4.0L not 2.5L will that make a diff?

OP since you have a 4.0, try Moog 3226 and Moog 3227 for the springs. They have a higher spring rate and pair better with a 4.0. I used those specific #'s myself after seeing them recommended on here.

Note: these are for stock height. I have a 2004 sport with the 4.0

@05 Blue Unlimited , do you use CK660203's (LCA for XJ) or CK660204's (LCA for TJ)?

Stock suspension parts are often being given away in the Fo Sae section. Of course stock springs and shocks may be tired

I may have some stock springs hanging around that I will never use. What control arms do you have on it now? Post some pics. You may be able to sell/trade the parts you have and get the parts you need at no cost or a slight profit.

I have also been looking into new control arms as well

Just save yourself some headache and go buy a stock Jeep.

While I partially agree with this logic, but on the other hand, by doing this work he will earn valuable knowledge about his jeep suspension that we all have to learn at some time if we plan on doing our own wrenching. Also, if he is attached to the one he has and it's in good shape, he may not be willing to part with it just to avoid some simple component swap time. Some of us love wrenching on our jeep with a frosty mug of lager.

Not to be short but I don't have a clue. I went to RockAuto and spent 5 mins searching for 99 wrangler suspension parts for the screen shots.

I fault no one for going stock and certainly understand the wisdom of staying at 2.5” and less. In my opinion, most TJ’s with 4” of lift that drive bad don’t drive bad due to the lift itself, but due to the lack of attention to how the lift can alter the chassis and steering . I’m not pushing for anything , just saying that a lifted TJ can drive great, but it seems to be rare out in the marketplace .

Apparently the 3226 and 3227 fit for TJ’s 2000-2006 but not the 97-99. At least whats recommended for the 97-99 are the 3224 and 3229 which I just placed an order for. Anyone have the 6 and 7 on their 97-99 Tj?
