I was looking through my old photos and came across these and thought it could be a good thread! Post a pic and tell a story of that time you had to pull/save someone from a trail.

My story:
My 2nd ever out on a trail I went out with 2 FJs, a power wagon and a G Wagon(I know, right?)
Anyway, on the way out from the trail at the end of the day the power wagon comes to a complete stop. His engine went into limp mode and his transmission wouldn't shift.
He was out designated tug guy. If anyone had a problem, he would pull us out!
So at this point you're thinking, a new FJ would probably have the better power to pull another truck off the trail. At least better than my 97 with 31" tires and 3.07 gears. You would probably be right. But here's the problem. The bumpers that could tow(either a hitch or d rings) didn't look right. So they had plain bumpers cause they liked the look of them better.
So the only one with a tow hitch was me and my little TJ.
That was a lot of truck to pull up a dirt hill on bald tires.

You got to give credit to functionality ..and you for being a good guy and hooking him up.

I’ve yanked a 1 ton dodge off a rock it was high centered on and pulled an H2 out of a mud hole. Those were the two biggest pulls. But I’m geared with 5.13’s and a 4 speed atlas making my crawl ratio 214:1 plenty of torque. My winch has saved countless souls over the years including myself.

Give yourself more credit, my 2016 Power Wagon was 7200 lbs on the truck scales at the transfer station.

I've winched a water truck out of soft sand but he wasn't too stuck. I tried again on a truck full of goats that was stuck in the mud but it didn't come out as easy so they went for a tractor.

A month ago I tugged an 80s ranger with a motor swap and coilovers for about 10 miles. It was an obvious work in progress project and the guy really had it on the trail too early. Starter crapped out and fuel pump wiring fell apart.

There were these guys on one of the local trails recently. They had been there for some time. The driver tried to turn around by going into this ditch and reverse. He had digged himself in by the time I went by. That Nissan was going nowhere. They were sweating trying to shovel dirt from underneath the truck. Winched them out in about 5 minutes. They said if it wasn't for covid, they would have hugged me. Lol
