Water Crossings

Here is me stuck on a Valentine's Day trip with my wife. It was deeper than I thought, about an inch from the doors. I stripped down to my boxers and hopped out to run the winch line while my wife snapped pictures. The cleanup sucked, and I believe this is what is what fries my starter and was causing my starting issues.

It was the first time I had to use my winch for recovery, and I had us out in just a few minutes. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous.

Not me, but a picture of the same hole from a guy in our club. That JK is on 35s with a three inch lift.

Yea, I know. :(

As silly as it sounds, I still look back and wonder what the hell I was thinking and wonder why I even attempted it. It could have been deeper and swallowed the Jeep. I'm usually a very cautious person, just not that time. I now test out all holes with a big stick before I cross them.

Trust me, I've been there before... it happens!
Also, I also "Test all holes with a Big Stick" ;)

Monticello Canyon, Middle of Nowhere, NM. Also known as Calle del Norte Road, there are about two dozen crossings along its length, and in the narrow part of the canyon the creek IS the road.
