Help with death wobble that happens at 65 mph

Well, if it's not the track bar , that's just take metal rod..it's the bushings or the bolt ,if it is the track bar .

The bolt can be badly worn, poorly torqued , and the bushings can fool you .

Normally on a stock jeep with fairly stock tires you don't get accelerated steering component wear , but eventually you do with anything.. eventually.

Remember you have 2 things- what causes it , or sets it off, in your case a surge , and what allows it , worn components.

I still think a wheel is acting up, you can even have a broke belt .

If everything is pretty tight...pitman arm , drag link ends , tie rod ends, track bar (and that's pretty much the entire linkage) a tire is the dominant issue ..put your back tires on the front and front on the back and see what happens.

Ok I will try it. And one of my front tire has no wheel weight so maybe it fell off or something.

You will see where a weight was likely .

Swap em out , that will tell you tons .

A stock right like that won't death wobble super easy.. something is significantly loose, worn or out of balance, out of round or the like.

Don't give up.

Any luck man ?
I’ve also got a question I am running 17 inch jk wheels but I had to put wheel adapters on so the wheels would fit the studs do you think this is bad or it will be fine. I’m worried because of the bad things I’ve heard about wheel spacers.

Those and 17 inch tires can both factor in , if they have issues.

With changing tires , you will at least know if it's tires vs components.

Yeah I’m thinking about going back to my stock 15 inch wheels only thing is that they will need new tires which will be expensive and my 17 inch wheels have decent tires on them

Can you borrow a buddy's tires for a day? It's a cheap and easy way to rule out tire, rim, and spacer all at once.

Maybe I have to check with him. I’ve been really busy lately haven’t had time to work on it. But when I find time I’m going to swap the tires around and take it out on the highway

Will your 15" tires still hold air and do they have enough tread that the cords aren't showing?

If they past that test they should be good enough to put back on the TJ to see if the DW remains.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does disappear with the 17" wheels and spacers.

Did you ever slap the back on the front

Well the 15s tires where dry rotted so I really don’t want to drive on those tires. I don’t have them with me but my uncle who sold me the Jeep still has them. I just gotta holler at him

Update I put a new track bar and got some different wheels and tires that are balanced and now the death wobble is completely gone and it will go all the way up to 90 which is kinda scary but it does it.

Awesome news, and thanks for the update!

Your LJ looks great, though you may want to use some back to black on the front fender flare extension :ROFLMAO:

yeah I was debating taking it off and leaving it off or doing that I actually was just looking at that back to black stuff that my dad had in the garage but it looks really old. Regardless of it being old does that back to black stuff actually work? Would it work if I rubbed some of that old stuff on it.
