close to Austin, Texas — but not too close!
O.K. — maybe not... but it is for our ‘05 LJR.

tailgate just didn’t press on the hatch glass weatherstrip enough to keep it from rattling. Tried adjusting/tightening the hinges — but there was very little ‘adjustment’ to be had. Not enough to make any difference in our case.

Found a rec on another forum for this car door protector. It is rubber, but flexible and seems tough as nails. Put some on top of tailgate, and another strip along the metal lip of the lower hatch glass.

Hatch lip is solid, but not bulky. Tailgate closes solidly, but doesn’t feel like it’s binding/pinching.

and for once, NO MORE RATTLES.

My rattle was solved by replacing the struts. They hold the glass down as well as up. Plus I don't worry about whacking my head on the glass when I'm going in the back.
I used that door rail (on my doors) and noticed it held water in. So be careful that any lower edge doesn't rust up from the guard retaining moisture between it.
