Need advise on dead jeep

i just got off the phone with mechanic, he says cylinder 1 is completely dead and needs a new engine. I dont have a garage to part out and sell so i'll have to sell as a whole

what do you guys think its worth? private party? junk yard?

If you could swap a junkyard engine in and get it to run, that may give you more return than selling it to a junkyard.
Heck, slap a V8 or LS in there and sell it for $13k

i forgot to mention that i am flat broke. i made a few calls and it looks like around 2k for and engine rebuild and 3k to install another used engine - both are out of reach for me
 
Understood. Perhaps browse through the Jeeps for sale section of this forum and look for parts Jeeps. That might give you a good idea of how much you could get for it. Perhaps even post it there
 
Why is cylinder 1 completely dead? Hole burned through the piston? Broken connecting rod? Missing rings? Or is it something easy like a bad injector or ignition? Even a bent valve isn't the end of the world.

need more info. . . mileage, aftermarket parts, other known issues, etc.

Thought the same thing. "Dead cylinder" is awfully vague.
