Snow vs Jeep: Who Wins?

So over Christmas the snow stacked up pretty high. In an attempt to go rescue my girlfriend from being snowed in down in town, I decided to take the Jeep to go get her. Not even 1/8 of the way down the dirt road to town I got stuck in my tracks. So I had to walk back to the house and get the tractor to pull the Jeep out. Knowing that the Jeep wouldn’t make it, the tractor with the snowblower attachment to the PTO was the way out. It took 7 hours just to clear the road (a very long dirt road btw). So needless to say my girlfriend was a little upset that she didn’t get to see me that day😂
In the end the snow won this time. So does anyone else have a snow story of their Jeep vs the snow, with some pictures? If so let’s see them. Also what are some must have upgrades when going through deeper snow in your opinion?
Here’s when I got stuck, I tried to dig out around the Jeep but the tires were just spinning on the icy compacted snow.

And here’s after using the snowblower on the road the next day.

In my experience, the snow always wins - but there are ways to fight it :)

Top of Mary’s peak in Oregon, 5ft of snow below 1.5” of sheet ice. Wheeled around the mountain peak for a few hours with my buddies until we realized the temp had dropped to 20 degrees and the snow was solid ice. We all slept in our rigs (I carry a buddy heater and stayed nice and toasty all night) and when the morning came the ice thawed out. Fun times!

Ah man those are some great pics! Glad to hear you all made it out safe and warm. In my experience sleeping the the Tj is very uncomfortable but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, and a buddy heater would have come in handy a lot of those times for me. Very smart👌🏻

My back didn’t forgive me for a few days :) I keep a couple of MREs under my seat just in case, never hurts to have a hot meal when you’re stranded.

My Jeep performed exceptionally well in the snow with the Duratrac tires. I was actually very surprised how good it did.

Still, the car that blew me away the most in the snow was our Subaru. That thing was on a whole different level entirely.

Cant forget the back pain, I know that feeling. One time in a pinch, I tried hanging a hammock from where the rollbar connects to the A pillar and attaching the other side on the opposite side of the Jeep to the top rear of the roll bar. Then I put the front seats forward. It would have worked nicely but I was a little to tall for it.

Absolutely, we have a Subaru crosstrek as well, it can breeze through some nasty stuff. That AWD is no joke.

Yep, I guess that's the benefit of all those computer systems driving for you in the tough conditions.

I love Jeeps, but when it comes to snow, the Subarus always blow my mind with how well mannered they are.

We had a Subaru when we lived in NH and it was by far and away the best car I have ever driven in snow. It was also the most unreliable car I have ever owned.

Seriously? I’ve owned 5 Subaru’s and never had an issue with a single one of them other than routine maintenance. One of them had 300k on the original engine too!

Bought a WRX new I. ‘04, a week before Salem got hit hard for two weeks of ice storms. Not much you can do on pure ice besides chains but the car was impressive. I was the only person in my neighborhood to be parked at the house. I lived at the top of a very steep hill!!!

now...I love to snow wheel! It’s one of my favorite types of wheeling!

Air down, carry recovery gear and bug out before it freezes over! I’ll share some pics.

Solo pic was last weekend.

Group pic was last year. Found about 4’ up there.

The cruiser pic is at Elk lake, about 8’ of snow. I drove past the roof on the bathrooms. 😂 those are 37” Toyo’s, just pulled the valve cores and rocked it. It was a heavy rig but man, best snow rig I’ve ever had.
Last is my first gen Runner, again 37” Toyo’s. On the way to Elk Lake. Pulled the cores and broke trail to the lake, about 7-8’ of snow and lots of bare drifts. That rig never got stuck, lol.
