So I need to get rear / overhead speakers mounted in the Jeep. Of the three options I have to install them is one going to be better than another and how so? I have sound bar, sound pods and sound wedges that go behind the front seats but between the roll bar and rear fender well. I’ve only ever used the full length sound bar in the past but with upgraded speakers. I’ll be purchasing new speakers regardless of the choice of mounting.

I'm interested in the same. The sound wedges can fit a 6×9 in them, so I would think they could give the best sound. But does the placement of them having to push sound through the seat make them worse than the overhead??🤷‍♂️

What you listen to will make a difference here...
So.. without that known... some basics...
Highs will travel directionally. (for the most part). Mids should also be placed somewhat directional (staged)., Lows (bass) are omni directional.

So... Bars suck for the most part. Can't get the air required for a proper mid. (you can use PRV Neo 6.5's here). This is where most put the Mids and maybe a "standard" tweeter. (I suggest a SPL in the factor dash location but requires some cutting). the Pods are much better but you should put in polly fill. (buy a cheap pillow and you can use the filling if you can't get polly fill). You can also put a "standard" tweeter here.
Then, place a 10" sub behind the rear seat.

If you do not go with a sub then I would addd the 6x9 behind the seat or a 6.5-8" mid bass here.

Jeeps are about worst environment to get any kind of good sound, it's difficult. It's possible to improve it but getting a great sound system is almost impossible. Stay away from "bigger is better", a 6x9 isn't necessarily better than a good 5.25" speaker. A lot here use the Polk Audio DB speakers in their overhead sound bar, they are very efficient and spread the sound out fairly well. NONE of the stock locations in the dash or overhead or pods will provide any bass. Only a purpose built box carefully matched to a small woofer will provide bass. I built a small box for a small subwoofer designed for a small box and placed it under the driver seat, which is raised. It works well. There are other solutions such a box behind the back seat. Subwoofer need an external amp to work properly.

I already put a new sub and amp in the console. And new amp and Polk 5 1/2 overhead all stuffed with polyfil. And polk 4×6 in the dash. The front sound is weak. Can't seem to find a way to balance the sound other than to almost cut the 4×6 to mute. So my plan is to move the 5 1/2 up front.
And whether to go with 6 1/2 Polks into the overhead or go to sound pods or something other.
Grew up in the early 80's so Hair bands and Metallica are the norm. I'm also on the old side, so Country gets some airplay too. Don't know the best route to go. I'm happy enough with the bass. Hoping the 5 1/2" will help the front. So the overhead or pod or ?? is where I'm at. Not going to build boxes to fill up the back. I have a pup that can chew thru a speaker or MDF for that matter, in no time.
