Hey every, new member to the forum. I've loved reading these forums in the past and have gotten some great inspiration for my Tj. Unfortunately my jeep had a rough weekend. I rear ended a truck and gain some decent damage. I have full coverage and I am waiting on the final word from our insurance adjustor. I've seen some similar threads on this topic so I was hoping for some advice when the final word comes in. my hood and fenders are trashed along with the fan and radiator. The airbags did not deploy and the frame looks straight (however I know it is almost impossible to tell from the naked eye). The tub has no damage and the front suspension/ steering also looks fine. control arms appear to be straight and tie rods are still intact. I'm curious to see what you guys think insurance will do about it and what advice could be handy. I've put a lot of time and money into my jeep and I'm really hoping for the best case scenario. I have 97,000 original miles and it is rust free which is hard to find up here in Minnesota.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I'd like to see a pic of the area right where the fenderettes are back to the door opening lower corner. They look crumpled in the picture but hard to tell due to the pixilation.

Sad the hear about your Jeep, glad you are okay evidently. While the insurance company may declare it a total, it appears to be repairable. The repairs for a DIY guy should not be excessive.

I cropped the photo a little closer in, theres some glare from the sun and the pixles aren't the greatest.

This wreck my daughter had was estimated at $6800 to put back together.

I was able to buy Metalcloak fenders and body armor, shocks, coil springs, wheels and tires, winch, headlights, & fog lights for same cost...did all the work myself so if you’re handy with the tools, you can fix it up right!! (Some items not pictured below)

Sadly I agree insurance will probably total it. I have a little mechanical knowledge and would be willing to do the repairs myself. what are your thoughts on a good buy back price?

They will try their very best to total it, because that's what insurance companies do. It is sometimes possible to fight it and win - I did with my old Mercedes 9 years ago, but it wasn't easy.

I have no idea. I think the insurance company will tell you the buy back cost. Not sure if you can negotiate that. I just sold a man a mint 97 F250 regular cab 4x4 with the 460. 24 hours later the oak tree he parked under fell on it and squashed the roof and upper door frames (glass too) . The rest of the rig was okay. I sold it to him for $8500, the payout was I think about 6500, the buy back was 3500. He bought it back. I do think you can sometimes get the insurance companies to raise the value of vehicle. Book value often does not reflect what the rigs are actually worth and what they sell for.

wow... did you have to buy it back from insurance or did they give you the repair money?
