Just wondering if I install these on the frame. If they will stick out far enough?

The previous owner put some of those on my last Jeep. You can see how far it sticks out here. It’s mounted to the factory step

PO installed a set on mine. Bolted to the bottom of the tub, though I was gonna have clearance issues with them but never have. I dont think they will stick out far enough if bolted to the frame though.

I have those same steps. Now I have mounted them to a flat steel plate, then drilled the through and drilled and tapped the underside of my sliders for 2 3/8" bolts. This way when I am on the trails it only takes a few seconds before I leave home to remove the two 3/8" bolts. Then when I get back they can be reinstalled just a fast. I am 65 so this works well for every but on the trails and I would do it all over again

Use something flexible. Like chain or a rope if you can’t get in. I’m fat as hell, but I manage. Everyone is different though, so don’t give up clearance unless you don’t care about it. Then those are fine.

I discovered the ones by Carr on extreme terrain come with a bracket for fitting them under the pan on a TJ. So that takes the mystery out of how to mount these. I'll be ordering a set soon.
