Just finished making a hoist system to remove the hard top. Some 2 x 4's, eye bolts, rafter ties and winch straps. Hope it works. 20200619_154854.jpg

It looks like you may have an issue getting it up high enough, only so much space in the ratchet strap spool unless it's just to get it off the Jeep for storage elsewhere.

How bought two sets of straps. They are only 14 dollars. That should give me the extra height.

After failing at a DIY attempt, I bought a Harken hoist for mine. It's got a pulley system with a 6x mechanical advantage. My 5 year old can't quite get the top lifted off by himself, but he's close.

After much research and much debate, I went with this electric hoist. $100 from Amazon

and it comes with the yellow straps to make the cradle. I used 2 spare ratchet straps (orange) and hooked them to the yellow flat strap that came with the hoist. Tied off the front for good measure and hooked to the garage door opener hanger. Hoist is attached to the ceiling with a piece of unistrut. My ceilings are 16' so this was the best option.

All you need is to lift the top a few inches. When it (hardtop) is up you can just drive forward and out from under the top. Of course this will leave the hardtop blocking anything else from using the space other than backing up under the top again. But if your plan is to put the top on a skid or dolly and move it out of the way then you will need far less lifting height anyway.
