I was replacing the bulb in my third brake light, and the 2 screws holding the light to the mount snapped because they were so rusty. I can't get the rendering parts out. I've tried soaking them with penetrating oil, and heating them with a soldering iron. There isn't much material to get a good grip on with pliers or vise-grips. Any other tricks?

I have this same problem. I tried to drill it out-not enough material to get the drill bit to bite and the bit kept slipping off to the side. I eventually gave up on removal and just used a slightly smaller screw off to the side in the same hole. The other option is to replace the entire assembly altogether.

I might try to drill it out completely, fill the hole with epoxy, and cut new threads into it if I can't find another stock unit. Most of the aftermarket ones looks stupid.
