I’ve got a 2006 Rubicon. Previous owner put on a set of Olympic sliders. They are all right, but step is really small. I’ve got a set of Rugged Ridge step bars I thought about putting on but will have holes from the old stock guards.
Looking for some ideas here. Want a bigger step and don’t want plastic. Thought about replacing with the Olympic panels without the step but have mixed feelings.

You could cut the step off the ones you have, then smooth/clean them up and repaint them. Then use what ever step you want to mount on separately.

Some of those metal hoop steps mounted on the bottom might suit you.

Why do you need a step? Even my short GF can get into mine on 35s with no problems.

The use of a step makes perfect sense, as long as you don't get in or out when it's muddy, salty or covered in pollen while wearing nice dark colored suit (or any pants) on your way to church on Sunday or a wedding, funeral, or job interview any other day.

Maybe I wasn’t clear. I already have the step rails to put on. Looking for alternatives to Rubicon factory panels since Jeep doesn’t make them any more. Plus want something with some use if possible.

My five year old niece can climb into my Jeep via the rear tire and roll cage. I don't really consider her exceptionally talented as far as automotive ingress, hope she doesn't find that insulting some day. In fact I have trouble keeping the niece and nephew out. Perhaps cookies in the seats or other treats in the Jeep will work if the kids don't want in. Welding to accommodate them seems extreme.

Yeah I don’t plan on welding. Previous owner gave me these and the frame is already tapped to bolt them up. Just need something to cover the old holes where the Rubicon guards once were.

Warrior Products makes some diamond plate rocker guards that look similar to the factory rubicon ones. They make a flat version and one with a 1 inch lip that rolls under the bottom. Not sure if they are tall enough to cover the holes in your current guards.

Someone had some for sale in the For Sale forum. Not sure if they sold or not.
