Looking at this Jeep long distance. It's a low-miler from PA. Thanks!

What I worry about is the same "rust" happening in places I can't see and treat, you know? Thanks for the reply!

The only purpose of the rust you can see is to gauge the likelihood of having rot you cannot see. If the inside of the frame is not rotting then there is nothing to worry about.

If those are the photos the seller has sent you, he hasn't included any areas that are of interest when it comes to rust.

From those pics it doesn't look bad, but definitely get more. Skid plate, control arms, track bar mounts at the axle. Maybe all the body mounts as well.

I'm in PA and my TJ has zero frame rust because it seems previous owners kept the frame treated. The rest of it is hit and miss though. I snapped all four rear upper shock bolts trying to get them out. The hardware bolting stuff together is bad in some cases.

Bottom line you WILL have rust issues, I don't care how well they treated it.

The photos above don't say anything about the rust situation. Actually, any photos at all aren't great at telling you the rust situation unless it is very obvious. I wish I had photos of my TJ's old frame while it was under the Jeep. I could have posted them on here right before my frame swap and been given the go ahead to wire brush and paint by some people :D

I would be very very cautious buying a TJ sight unseen that has clearly been in the salt before. It might not look so bad, but you can't know until you see it in person. Being in Oregon, if there isn't a specific reason to buy this exact TJ, I would just find something closer that has less rust.

Yes — I am a spoiled west-coaster and even tho it doesn't look like much, it's more than I like to see for a 46K mile toad/garage queen.

For those nuts on the fuel tank skid plate, may be worth it to spray with penetrating oil, remove the nuts, clean it all and put on some anti-seize, and torque em back. Might save you a ton of grief in the future. Same for those parking brake connectors and the adjustment mechanism-see if you can clean them and protect them.

I wouldn't worry about it.... because I'd never buy it.
