Hi All - well the time has finally come to lift my jeep! I have a 1997 TJ Sport, 6cy. Owned it for about 10 years, jeep is in great shape. Been wanting to lift my jeep for years but never had the time. I am looking for some recommendations on lift kits. I want to put 33s and probably 10.5 tires on it. The jeep is my second car that i use to drive around with the top down in the summer and sometimes use in the winter if it snows. Looking for recommendations for a good DIY Lift Kit. Don't want to spend thousands on it but want a good dependable lift it and dont mind pay a few extra dollars to get a kit that is good. All help is appreciated! thanks

to fit 33's you'll need 3.5-4" of lift, however you will run into drive line vibrations also which will require a slip yoke eliminator and new RR DS, and you'll also need adjustable track bars, control arms etc...

Not with a 2" spring lift and a 1.25" body lift. That combo is more than capable of running 33" tires.

Zone 4.25" combo lift with 33s. I've run them on several of my Jeeps (including my Rubicon with 35s). They stopped making the nice riding white hydro shocks that I always got.

Decide what you want to do with it.

If you're just driving around town and cruising, a 31" or 32" is a far better choice than a 33".

You'll save money, it will drive better on-road in most cases, and you can get away with a simply 2.5" lift.

I wish I would have started with this advice.

31" or 32" tires, 2" springs,(Procomp, OME, BDS, JKS), Rancho RS5000X shocks, (0"-2" lift option). Relocation bracket for the rear track bar. Extended front sway bar end links, (or get discos if you want articulation). Even with a 2" lift, you still could get rear DS vibes. If you do, Go the BL/MML route. The BL will give you more fender clearance if you go with 32's. The MML will reduce the drive line angles to curb vibes, and by going with the combo, you won't have to re-drill/move the fan shroud.

I would do 2.5OME lift with rancho RS5000X. Then a 1.25 savvy body and then a brown dog mml if you have vibes. This also sets you up for a tummy tuck later if
You want. This is what I’m planning to do with my Jeep.

Great advice right here.

Here's a pic of my 04 RME edition going from stock size (i think it was 29"?) to 32" with the Rancho 2.5" lift and Rancho 5000x shocks. Kit is designed to handle up to 33". Rubber is 32" KO2 but could have fit 33". (I'm also not rock crawling ... mostly DD and fire road) I've been really happy with this kit for what I use it for and it was pretty reasonable $.
