Do bull bars make you safer?

Anyone experienced or witnessed a front collision of a TJ that has a HD replacement front bumper?

Do you think the occupants would be less prone or more prone to injury in a head on collision?

I’m wondering whether to keep mine on the Jeep for when my kid starts driving, or put the stock one back on?

In the event of a violent collision something is going to absorb the energy, the stronger the Jeep is the less it will absorb that energy.
I’d rather see the Jeep absorb it versus the occupants.

Bull bars don’t make your Jeep “Safer”.
Bumpers can takeout a lot but your frame is Designed to take the hit and bend. The A pilar and the cadge is designed to crumple

IMO, a new driver is more likely to have a small fender bender. The bull bar will probably do more damage to the other vehicle than if it had just the factory flat bumper.

As above, it's not the bumper that protects the occupants, it's the frame and the rest of the design. For example the frame has sections designed to bend and absorb the energy of an impact.

Also keep in mind the Wrangler TJ is not the lightweight vehicle some assume it is. It has a full heavy steel frame under the body and the steel tub is itself heavy. The insurance industry ranked the TJ as safer than the average car, occupants were less likely to be seriously injured, and costs of repairs were lower than average as well.

I'd rather have one of my kids in a Wrangler than in a crackerbox Toyota, Nissan, Honda, etc., all of which have unibody designs and are a lot lighter than a Wrangler. Don't fear a Wrangler as your son's vehicle, it's safer than most cars.

Bull bar still working. It looks like it did it's job. Driver had no serious injuries. Always wear your seatbelts.

I don't know how the driver had no serious injuries it look s looks like the windshield frame would have taken him out
He was just really banged up and sore. He was a local guy (17) and his mom was trying to sell his Jeep after this wreck. It had a Dana 60 rear he just installed. I couldn't find anything salvageable for me.

Banged up and sore is better than serious injuries.

I’d like to think mine would hold up in a similar situation. It sticks out 2 feet from the front ffs! 😂

To paraphrase Patton: "No bastard ever survived a wreck because his car folded first. He survived it by making the other poor dumb bastard's car crumple first (or more)." ;) Slightly tongue in cheek, but an element of truth in it as well. A '48 deuce and a half flatbed Dodge isn't gonna crumple, and its driver doesn't have to worry about it either.
