Possible Oil or Coolant Leak

So I need a little help with the diagnosis and possible solution. I have what I believe to be a coolant leak (edit: might also be oil) from the very top of my engine on the front corner, driver's side. I washed the engine down yesterday and made sure to clean everything off by hand, so I know these are "new" leaks since then. The fluid almost seems like it's coming from the valve cover, and it collects on what I believe is the intake manifold (where it collects to obstructed by other parts in the picture). The coolant in the overflow bottle is slightly off color, but when I shine a light on it, it's definitely still green. Here's some pics of what I'm talking about. Let me know if any more information is needed.

It definitely seems like dirty coolant when I've wiped it up with a paper towel. But it's reasonable that it would be a little dirty after it touched the outside of my 19 year old engine. And when I smell it burning while I'm driving, I will pop the hood when I get where I'm going and to me it seems to have that sweet smell that anti-freeze has when it burns. That's the main reason I think it's coolant. The water pump is dry from what I can see including the lower hose, but I will take a look again.

But I'm definitely not saying I'm 100% right about it being coolant, I know I have limited mechanical knowledge when it comes to engines. So I'm open to suggestions to get it diagnosed and fixed.

Well after going for a quick drive across town, I popped the hood and the sweet smell was definitely gone. My cooling system exploded over the summer so I guess it's possible that residual coolant was left on the engine giving the sweet smell before I cleaned it by hand the other day. So it's definitely possible it could be oil.

Could this be as simple as a valve cover gasket leak?

Yep. Looks like that'll be the next thing I do when I have a free moment. I used a paper towel to wipe up some of the fluid that was on top of the intake, and it looks like oil to me. It's a very small leak, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on my oil level until I get a chance to get a new gasket.
