Brought this home from a pasture in Greenville, Co. Texas a couple weeks ago. Had been sitting for at least 2 decades as a "parts jeep".
No engine, tranny, TC or front axle, no wheels. Frame is good of all things and it has never been wrecked. It has some rust but frame is strong so I may stick an LS it. I already have a 700r4 for it. Won't work on it till I finish my swap but this is it, year 1948 Willys Overland truck, verified by ID

plate riveted on the frame.

Nice vintage Jeep !!
When Jeeps were 99.9% steel and lasted for ever...
I will enjoy watching the restoration process...
Thanks for sharing.

I have lusted for one of those since high school - but I sure wouldn't put an automatic in one! :D
Zorba agree, it should have a manual. I am restoring this to use as a daily driver and also use some in my pool business. My 2 other tjs are manual trannys so this one gets an automatic. For now.

John Cooper that would work nicely for sure. The LS may be a bit much, I haven't decided yet, but its sitting in the garage ready to go. I'd really prefer a Chevy 350 LT1 but will decide later.

No Iphones, or digital cameras back then;) took pictures of the pictures.
Motor was fresh, old dude I bought it from had just rebuilt it. His wife wanted toys thinned out, he had tanks and dozers and all kinds of stuff. I paid 300 bucks for it. Bought it for my girlfriend at the time. It scared the shit out of her at 30mph  Top speed was like 44, but it would climb a brick wall!

Oh wow that is awesome.. I'd sell my first born for that haha.
Please tell me your keeping the patina ?...350 Chev would be the reliable choice, more than enough to keep that rear end ummmm 'lively' haha...
Get some old school signpainting on the door for the Pool business and your set......can you tell I'm a wee bit jealous ;)

Yep, plan to keep the patina and just fix a couple cracks in the fenders. @Kiwi TJ yah I was lucky to find this, will be a fun project, will be posting pics as things progress.

Nice find, my dad had one in the early 70’s with a 283 and a 4 speed. Are you going 4wd or 2wd?
